Introduction
Primo Piazza is one of Khao Yai’s best-known “theme” attractions. Built to resemble a small Tuscan hill village, it combines cobblestone lanes, terracotta buildings and a central piazza with paddocks of alpacas, sheep and ponies. It is not a historic site, and it does not pretend to be one, but it is a cheerful, photogenic stop – especially for families with young children.
Destination overview
Primo Piazza is in Mu Si, the main hotel and attraction area between Pak Chong town and the national park. The village is compact: visitors usually walk the lanes, take photos at the viewpoints and arches, feed the animals and stop for gelato or a meal at the Italian restaurant. Most people spend under an hour here, so it works best as part of a wider day out.
Main highlights
- Animal feeding: alpacas, sheep and ponies are the main draw for children. Feed is usually included in the ticket.
- Italian-style architecture: cobbled streets, archways and a small piazza with views of the surrounding hills.
- Food and gelato: an Italian restaurant and ice-cream shop on site.
- Photo spots: the colourful facades are especially popular with Thai visitors for portraits.
Best time to visit
Weekday mornings are the quietest. Late afternoon gives softer light for photos but is busier. Avoid Thai public holidays and long weekends if you dislike crowds. The cool season (November to February) is the most comfortable time for walking around in the open.
Transportation information
Primo Piazza is a short drive from most resorts in Mu Si and along Thanarat Road, and roughly 2.5 to 3 hours by car from Bangkok. Parking is available on site. Public transport is limited, so arrive by car, taxi or a hired driver. Search “Primo Piazza Khao Yai” in Google Maps for the exact location.
Practical visitor tips
- Keep expectations realistic. It is small and designed for a short visit; reviewers sometimes find the ticket price high for the size.
- Follow staff guidance when feeding animals and wash hands afterwards.
- Bring sun protection – there is limited shade in places.
- Combine it with the Khao Yai Art Museum, a cafe from our restaurants and cafes guide or Ban Tha Chang Spring.
