Introduction

Ban Tha Chang Spring, sometimes called Nam Phut Ban Tha Chang, is a local favourite for cooling off on hot days. Spring water rises through limestone and fills a series of clear, blue-green pools, giving the water a colour that the Amazing Thailand travel website compares to Krabi’s famous Emerald Pool. It is much smaller and simpler than a national park attraction, but it is a pleasant, low-key way to spend a couple of hours.

Destination overview

The spring is in the Ban Tha Chang area of Mu Si, close to the main resort strip. According to Amazing Thailand, the water flows year-round, filtered through calcium carbonate rock, and there are about four terraced pools and a weir that create small waterfall-like features. Swimming is allowed in designated areas with deep and shallow zones, and kayaks can be rented in a separate zone. Facilities are basic, with simple changing areas and local vendors.

Main highlights

  • Swimming in cool, clear spring water shaded by trees.
  • Kayaking along the calm channel.
  • Picnics on the banks – bring a mat, as seating is limited.

Best time to visit

Water clarity is usually best in the dry season (around November to April); heavy rain can make it murky. Weekday mornings are the least crowded. It is especially popular on hot-season weekends and holidays.

Transportation information

Drive or take a taxi from Pak Chong or your resort; the spring is about 15–20 minutes from Pak Chong town. Public transport is limited. Search “Ban Tha Chang Spring” in Google Maps.
